team midnight has a treat for you this halloween ride!

portland afoot (portlandafoot.org) is leading.

ride leaves from

dot’s cafe:  2521 SE clinton st.

there will be a puzzle on this ride–with a prize.

they promise the ride will be freak-bike friendly and conclude with dancing.

if you feel inclined to come in seasonal attire, they’ve given you a theme to work from:  “topsy-turvy.”

finally, and this is why you’ve got to love these guys, they remind you, “don’t be a goofus and stand around outside the bar – patronize, or show up at 11:55.”

tonight’s ride will meet at

ducketts public house, 825 N killingsworth

show up by 10pm for kaustic karaoke, if you’re game!

this ride will be a little big longer than the normal 5 mile rides.

your leader this month says:

friday the 13th MMR!

1. ride is a bit longer than usual

2. a good front light or headlamp is huge, for there will be REAL darkness!

3. ride is mostly flat, with way more downhill than up. **there are 3 uphill stretches that some will maybe moan about – but all are SHORT, and worth the effort.** AND – lots of fun downhill!

last thing: there’s a parking lot half a block east of caldera where people can gather before the ride.

tonight is sure to be the largest ride of the year!

grab your rain coat, some (warm?) beverages, and a tarp to sleep
under, kids, ’cause we’re leaving from st. johns tonight!

please do NOT block the streets prior to the ride.  if you arrive
early, park your bike and head inside the bar.

once the bar and parking lot are full, start mustering in the empty
lot across the street.

remember–this may be some peoples’ FIRST MMR.
don’t be afraid to (politely) inform people to
–not be jerks
–quiet down in residential areas
–cork, when needed
–get out of the way of tall bikers
–clean up their own messes
–turn their lights off at the end location.

MMR – doing it better

here at team midnight, we like to keep things simple.  we like to ride, mostly.  at midnight.  we don’t even like to know where we’re going, really.  but we see that times are a’changin’, so we’re gonna suck it up and join the fb.  yeah.  facebook.  so “like” us there, if you’re into that kind of thing, and we’ll do our best to keep everyone apprised of the goings on every month.  we promise not to leave the rest of you luddites without a facebook page behind in the dust–we’ll keep on a’postin’ here.

here’s our suggestion:

• ride to filmed by bike with gary fisher
• volunteer for filmed by bike
• party at the street party
• go see the movies
• tag along with the drop out bicycle club down to the after party at apex
• leave apex at midnight with two organized and enthusiastic leaders

or, if you’d rather just go on the MMR, that’s fine, too.  just meet us at
